Stranger Things season three introduced a number of new characters in its third season in the battle to defeat the Mind Flayer. One of the nicer surprises was the introduction of Robin Buckley (played by Maya Hawke), who played Steve Harrington’s (Joe Keery) Scoops Ahoy co-worker. Many viewers thought that a romance was blossoming between the characters in series three, but the actor has revealed in a new interview why she rallied against this. Robin was one of the stand-out introductions in season three of Stranger Things. Steve’s colleague at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop, she proved be be invaluable in helping to uncover the Russian operation going on underneath the Starcourt Mall. The pair developed an unlikely friendship during the series, which some fans had initially thought was heading in a romantic direction. However, when Steve declares his affection for her at the end of the season, Robin revealed that she is gay. In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Robin actor Maya Hawke revealed that the creators had planned to end their story romantically.
